Matt Virnau: Paidion Shield's Training and Tactics Advisor

Matt Virnau serves as the Training and Tactics Advisor for Paidion Shield, bringing a powerful combination of elite military experience, instructional expertise, and academic insight to the mission of protecting the vulnerable. A decorated special operations veteran, Matt served as a United States Air Force Combat Controller and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), leading joint operations and executing high-stakes missions across multiple global theaters. His distinguished service in combat earned him the Bronze Star Medal and the Air Force Combat Action Medal.


With over a decade of operational experience, Matt has trained and mentored more than 200 special tactics trainees and candidates, preparing them for success in the most demanding environments. As an experienced instructor and a certified EMT with specialized training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care, he brings critical lifesaving knowledge to both tactical and civilian scenarios.

Matt also holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Performance Psychology, along with advanced credentials in strength and conditioning and performance coaching. His integrated approach emphasizes physical preparedness, mental resilience, and leadership development, skills essential to those entrusted with protecting others.


At Paidion Shield, Matt plays a key role in designing and delivering training programs that equip individuals to confront real-world threats with competence and confidence. His work is especially focused on empowering protectors; law enforcement, security professionals, and responsible citizens, to safeguard children and communities from violence, exploitation, and harm.
